What is a prostate gland?
As I've learned from various sources the prostate, in simple words, is a part of the reproductive system of males (it holds about 30% of the semen and plays important role in the process of ejaculation). It is located below the bladder and in front of the bowel. It is shaped like a walnut, is about 1-2 inches across, and surrounds a part of the urethra.
What is the prostate gland function?
The main functions of the prostate gland are:
- Production of prostate fluid which is a basis for a sperm. This fluid also energizes the semen and reduces the acidity of the vaginal canal.
- Development of biologically active hormone-like substances (prostaglandins).
- Valve function - closes an exit from a bladder during an erection.
- Frames feeling of an orgasm by developing of innervation.
What is prostate adenoma?Adenoma is a benign enlargement of prostate gland (also called benign tumor or benign prostatic hyperplasia - BPH) in a male body that squeezes the surrounded part of urethra and prevents from smooth urination.
The symptoms of prostate adenoma are: hard urination, pulsed or intermittent (the stream is interrupted) urination, frequent urination, night time urination, urine leaks, weakening of sexual function, in some cases problematic ejaculation.
The causes of prostate adenoma are still unclear. So far no connection has been traced between venereal and chronic infections of the organs, diseases of the blood, diseases of heart, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes mellitus, other deseases of urine-genital system, sexual activity, or the use of tobacco and alcohol.
Some doctors claim, there is no radical cure all over the world (except surgery) which can help you to get rid of adenoma completely. Nevertheless some medications and herbal infusions, physical exercises, riding a bicycle, and walking help to improve blood circulation in organs of true pelvis, including prostate. As a result tumor growth stops, the urination and sexual function improve, and your general well-being gets better.
What can be done?When you feel the first symptoms, immediately consult your doctor for diagnostic and treatment opportunities. If you cannot urinate call the emergency.
As soon as you are sure that your tumor is benign (i.e. no prostrate cancer) and you do not have prostatitis (prostate infection or inflammation without infection) you have several options:
- Undergo surgery.
- Take the prescribed medications. Commonly used medicines are Tamsulosin (Flomax), Finasteride (Proscar), Terazosin (Hytrin), and Doxazosin (Cardura).
- Use homeopathic medicine (Cantharis, Causticum, Chimaphila, Staphysagria, Colocynth, Sabal serrulate).
- Do exercises to relieve the pressure of the prostate gland on the urethra and urinary bladder in combination with diet.
Last option is my way.
Here I am going to tell you about my experience and present you some exercises and folk medicines that helped me and hopefully will help you.
Lying on the back
Lie down on your back arms along the body, straighten you legs. Pull your feet in sequence to your pelvis slipping heels on the floor.
Now bend your legs in the knees and move them one after another forward and back. Keep your heels on the floor firmly.
Same start position.
Open your knees - move them apart as far as you can.
Same start position.
Elbows against the floor. While breathing in raise your pelvis, while breathing out get it back on the floor.
With your legs still bent in the knees put your feet a little bit wider then your shoulder. Bend both knees to the left and to the right so that your left knee would touch your right heel and vice versa.
Straighten your legs again. While breathing in toughen your buttocks and draw in the crotch. Breathe out and relax.
Raise up one straight leg after another to vertical position.
Raise both legs vertically and turn your feet left and right.
Raise both legs vertically and spin them clockwise and counterclockwise.
Bend your back and legs to get them beyond your head. This may be hard at first attempts, so be careful and start with 2-5 times, increasing number of move gradually till 20-25.
Still lying on your back make a “bicycle”.
Put a small pillow on the stool and sit down on it resting your feet at the edge of the sofa. While turning your body left and right straighten your back gradually down to the horizontal position. Repeat it 15-20 times.
Take a seat on the floor, line up your legs, put your hands on your knees and “walk” on your buttocks. You can move ahead and backwards, there is no restriction on that.
Feet shoulder-width apart. Put out your hands and perform a squat. Sit down while breathing out and get up while breathing in. Repeat the squats 20-25 times.
Bend your body forward touching the floor with your fingers.
Perform all the exercises according to your body condition. Do not overdo.
After all the exercises lie down and relax. This is important!
Prostate adenoma and diet
There are also some folk medicines and foods that help prevent and fight prostate adenoma.
One of the most important among these "medicines" is pumpkinseeds and sunflower seeds. Their decided advantage is that they are affordable and widespread. Also worth mentioning nuts, meat (not too much), fish, mussels, bean, grain. All these products contain zinc.
Studies have shown that prostate adenoma appeared more rarely in men, who frequently ate cooked (boiled) tomatoes. Scientists consider that active tomato substance - lycopene, which gives protective action, is released, when tomatoes are heated.
Avoid following products:
smoked foods, canned foods, peppers and other hot spices.
Limit yourself in the use of meat, eggs and alcohol. In general, work out a diet that prevent you from constipation because the full bowels and especially the rectum will obstruct urination by squeezing prostate gland and passing through it urethra. At the other hand, empty intestinal tract will lighten the process of urination. In this context diarrhea is good. But don't get addicted with all sorts of clyster, enema or lavement (actually I am not sure what's the difference), as your stomach must work on its own.
And one more advice. The last but not least. Right before you enter the toilet room try to imagine the process of urination and feel the upcoming pleasure. And when you start the process, make the imagination come true. Feel relaxation and joy. Get some foam on the water! In our busy days we forgot that passing urine is a simple and affordable pleasure. Just think about it, you are getting a relief! Remember the times when we (or our predecessors) where closer to the Mother Nature.
